Going to “The Beach” is a bit more involved around Fort Pierce than it is in many other places—only because we have so many beaches to choose from! Whether you’re using your Uconnect system to look for a spot to dive for sunken treasure, taking advantage of your Jeep Grand Cherokee towing capacity with a boat trailer, or meeting up with a date before a trip to the Vero Beach Museum of Art, Fort Pierce’s access to the ocean makes our community a perfect place to play if you love water, waves, and sunshine. Below, our staff at Vatland CDJR covers our top beaches in Fort Pierce and what makes them particularly special to us and our community. Stop by sometime, and let’s talk more—we love the shore as much as we love cars!
Providing tennis, basketball, and volleyball courts, picnic tables, and a huge boardwalk, Pepper Park lies only 200 yards ashore from the Urca de Lima, a Spanish ship that sank in the 1700s under only 15 feet of water. The wreckage has made Pepper Park a hot spot for snorkeling and scuba diving, as visitors flock to catch a glimpse of history through their goggles. Bring your flippers and swimsuit, or a towel and umbrella if you’re the type who’d rather lay out in the sun.
A 340-acre public park featuring an oceanfront forest that looks over sand dunes and the water, Fort Pierce Inlet State Park has a number of hot spots for fishing, surfing, picnicking, and camping. There is an admission fee, but you’ll be sure to find plenty of impressive things to see and do here that make the cost more than worth it. Remember to bring your binoculars; this is a designated wildlife refuge with plenty of chances to see the rare bird.
If you’re into fishing, South Jetty Park and Pier is the place to go. This local landmark beach features a whopping 1,200-foot fishing jetty for Fort Pierce residents and visitors to drop a line, and see what comes up. Going with a group? The park’s boardwalk, picnic areas, and pavilion are sure to keep every visitor happy, even if catching dinner out on the town sounds better than catching it out of the ocean.
Couples and scenic types in Fort Pierce love the South Beach Boardwalk. Here, it’s all about the atmosphere: the Boardwalk has been built on top of the beach’s high sand dunes, giving visitors a picturesque, panoramic view of the ocean below, along with gorgeous views of the sun low on the horizon at the right times. Raised picnic pavilions, showers, and restrooms are all available here, giving visitors time to stay a while, get comfortable, and enjoy the ambiance.
